It has taken years for the world to realize that it is unfair to women. Stereotypes reinstate positions that make women feel they are ‘inferior’ to men.
The advertising industry the world over is guilty of helping sustain this stereotype.
Now, the UK has led the way by banning all adverts that nurture gender stereotypes such as portraying a girl in the kitchen or a boy playing with toys that portray his choice for tough careers like engineering. This ban takes effect in 2018.
