Fashion, art and beauty converge in Nairobi

Excited fashion enthusiasts and vendors met at the The Alchemist Bar in Westlands last Sunday.

The buzz was about the Thrift Social, a bimonthly event celebrating the upcoming thriving fashion community and also a convention of fashion entrepreneurs, fashionistas, thrift shoppers, music lovers and Nairobi’s trend setters.

This year’s was the clothes swap edition. It was a platform for vendors and designers to network and sell to the receptive crowd.

At the venue, people appreciated the ever changing Kenyan culture in the context of art, fashion and lifestyle.

The event was hosted by Oliver a.k.a (Papa Petite) and his sister Velma Rossa of 2manysiblings . The duo have featured in the Vogue Paris.

The guests were invited to trade in their less worn or used items for threads of equal value from the vendors and designers.

Petite Noir with Taio Tripper and Nu Fvnk’s performance entertained the crowd throughout the event.

The vendors present included Simbaress Fashions with African print blouses  and dresses, Maasai Treads with amazing slippers and open shoes with different outstanding patterns, Kenyan Lifestyle (Lawizy) with Ankara and waterfall attires,  Flash tattoos by Michiko_art, Gonzala leathers with classic leather bags, Sama paints with beautifully painted rubber shoes, kangas and pottery and  Art by Pencils2art.

Among the trendsetters in Nairobi in attendance was Pendorama who is a well known Kenyan Fashion Blogger.
